[edit] Introduction
Realtek provides an experimental driver for the RTL8187SE. Linux kernel git-repository already have initial support for rtl8187se. Currently driver is staged, so it can be added into main repository soon. For now you can install backported tarball from here.

Download an ebuild from here and place it into local overlay.
Just install and load module

From kernel version 2.6.29 (tested on gentoo-sources-2.6.29-r3), stage-drivers appeared in kernel. Stage-drivers - unstable drivers from external sources, that should be tested before they would be added in the main tree.

[edit] Troubleshooting
If driver stops working for no apparent reason, if that happens, just restart it
Some other times you may experience huge latencies (>5s) and/or extremely slow bandwidth (~50kB/s), either restart like above, or stop transfering large amounts of data.
