NFS is the popular Network File System available on all versions of Linux.
If you want to provide network volumes in a Windows Network, you might want to try Microsoft Services For Unix 3.5 or take a look at Samba (SMB/CIFS).
This article will show you how to create and mount NFS shared directories.
